  • November 10, 2010 - DeTect Releases Next Generation DT Tracker™ Software for MERLIN and HARRIER Radars - DeTect today announced the release of the next generation of its DT Tracker software. The original MERLIN tracking algorithm in use since 2003 was specifically written for tracking the unique target characteristics and flight dynamics of birds. As reported by the FAA, modified ship tracking software have proven difficult to adapt for bird radar systems, and custom developed bird tracking solutions have proven critical for operation of effective avian radar systems, particularly when tracking birds on vertically scanning radars. The new DT Tracker will deliver a higher level of performance in tracking unique and rare bird flight events (bird exhibit foraging, migration and courtship/display flights over a diverse range of characteristics). The software was also rewritten to track aircraft, marine vessels and ground targets (pedestrians and vehicles) for DeTect’s HARRIER line of security radars. In the new DT Tracker, bird specific tracking models can be optionally turned ON or OFF depending on the user’s specific operational needs. The new software is a complete, redesign to effectively detect and track multiple target types from a single sensor platform. DT Tracker will also support DeTect's VAR partners and third party developers providing track data through the DeTect SDK. All current MERLIN and HARRIER systems will be upgraded to the new DT Tracker over the next 6 months.
