The ideal candidate will have a strong personal sales skills and a background in sales and marketing with specific focus on remote sensing technology, systems and products. The position will require extensive travel worldwide and will oversee representatives in over 80 countries. The position will report to the company's CEO and will be based in Panama City Florida USA.

bulletSales Manager, Meteorological Systems: Senior level position based in Longmont, Colorado USA to direct and execute the company sales and marketing program for its meteorological systems with specific focus on radar wind profiler and sodar technologies. The ideal candidate will have specific background and expertise in wind profiler systems and will report on a day-to-day basis to the Vice President, Met Systems in Longmont, Colorado USA.

bulletProgrammers and Senior Programmers: Open requirement for positions for preparing specifications and user requirements and in encoding, testing, debugging, updating, and documenting proprietary software and programs for radar systems, data analysis and other company products and projects working under the direction of the company’s Chief Technology Officer. Expertise and knowledge of LabView, Visual Basic, C++, web applications and other programming languages desired. Programmer level requires three years minimum experience and B.S. degree in computer science; Senior level positions require 5-10 years experience and advanced degrees or commensurate experience. bulletRadar Ornithologists and Senior Radar Ornithologists: Entry and Senior level Radar Ornithologists positions supporting bird detection radar system set-up, operation, groundtruthing, measurement and analysis of the spatial distribution of birds and bats for aviation, wind farm, landfill and related projects. Duties and responsibilities will include field data collection, radar system operation and maintenance, processing and analysis using standard and custom software packages (including Arc 9, Matlab, MS Access, SQL and MS Excel). Conduct statistical analysis of bird distributions in time and space, compile draft technical reports for customers, provide processed data and graphical display output, and develop new data processing routines as needed for new projects. Requires minimum B.S. in avian biology, biology or related field and 3+ years of experience in avian survey. Radar operation experience and strong database skills a plus.

  • January 23, 2012 - DeTect Announces New Management Appointments - DeTect today has announced the promotion of Ms. Carolyn Matkovich to the position of North American Field Operations Manager. In this capacity, Ms. Matkovich will be responsible for directing all field operations for US and Canadian MERLIN and HARRIER projects. She is based in DeTect's Montreal, Quebec, Canada office. Mr. Aaron Hayes has also been promoted to Technical Support Supervisor and will assume responsibility for global customer support for MERLIN and HARRIER radar system installations. In this capacity he will be managing and coordinating the 24-7 customer technical support which includes Tim West and Bobby Sellers.

  • January 2, 2012 - DeTect EU Office Opens in the United Kingdom - DeTect today announced the opening of a European Office to meet growing demand for its radar products in the United Kingdom (UK), Europe Union (EU), the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The DeTect EU office is located at Afon House, Worthing Road in Horsham, West Sussex close to the Gatwick Airport. Three staff have been transferred from Florida to the DeTect EU office which is headed by Edward 'Zak' Zakrajsek, a founding member of the DeTect Team. Since 2003, Mr. Zakrajsek has managed the company's Field Services Group that has included oversight of DeTect's MERLIN™ and HARRIER™ radar installations throughout the region including the UK, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Spain, The Netherlands, Turkey, Asia and Africa.

  • November 17, 2011 - DeTect to Deliver the First HARRIER Visual Warning System (VWS) for Automatic Windfarm Obstruction Lighting Activation - In response to the dark skies initiative and wind industry demand, DeTect has developed the HARRIER VWS. The system provides continuous 360 degree surveillance of the airspace around a wind farm from the ground level to above aircraft flight altitudes, automatically activating obstruction lighting when aircraft are detected at a defined outer perimeter. The HARRIER VWS has advantages in performance and safety not available on any other VWS that include longer range warning of aircraft, lower cost of acquisition and operation, ease of installation, and multi-function capability (bird mortality risk mitigation). The first HARRIER VWS for the US has been ordered by a major US wind developer and will be installed and operating by year-end. This installation will be the first US VWS system installation (more information).

  • October 3, 2011 - US Air Force Awards DeTect Multi-year Contract for Bird Detection Radars - The USAF today awarded DeTect a five year contract for on-going development, operation and support for the Avian Hazard Advisory System (www.usahas.com), the Bird Avoidance Model (BAM), and birdstrike avoidance radars.

  • September 23, 2011 - US Navy Orders MERLIN Aircraft Birdstrike Avoidance Radar - DeTect today received a contract order to supply and support a MERLIN Aircraft Birdstrike Avoidance Radar system for the US Navy Kingsville Naval Air Station in Texas. DeTect was awarded the contract under an open, competitive solicitation and is providing the system under an operating lease.

  • September 19, 2011 - DeTect Introduces the HARRIER GSR-1500 Perimeter Security Radar at the ASIS 2011 Orlando Security Conference - DeTect will premier its newest security product - the HARRIER GSR-1500 - at the ASIS conference in Orlando, Florida USA this week. The unit is a compact, low power, low cost ground perimeter intrusion radar that can be deployed in a network for linear sites such as borders, shorelines and fenced perimeters. (more information)

  • September 6, 2011 - DeTect Expands Panama City, Florida Headquarters - DeTect today announced that it had acquired a new building for its Corporate headquarters in Panama City, Florida USA. The new building on Harrison Avenue includes 5,000 square feet of office space and will house the company's executive, accounting, administrative and sales and marketing groups, and also has facilities for secure, classified work to support its security radar programs. Production of the Company's MERLIN and HARRIER products will expand and continue at the existing 15,000 square foot facility on Wilson Avenue. According to DeTect's CEO, Gary W. Andrews, "the expansion was necessitated by an over 200% increase in sales this year". As a result, the company has added 20 new employees in Panama City 2011.

  • August 1, 2011 - Dr. Karen Voltura Joins DeTect as Director, Wind Energy Systems - Dr. Karen Voltura has joined DeTect as the practice manager for the Wind Energy market sector and will oversee all MERLIN, HARRIER and RAPTOR projects for wind energy projects. Dr. Voltura is a PhD biologist with an extensive background of experience in bird and wildlife management and control with prior positions supporting bird control programs for USAF bases with MERLIN Avian Radar Systems.
